b'achieve its GHG targets. A long-term goal of the Paris Agreement is to limit global temperatureincrease to well below two degrees Celsius from temperatures in the pre-industrial era. The ParisAgreement is in effect a successor to the Kyoto Protocol, an international treaty aimed at reducingemissions of GHGs, to which various countries and regions, including Ghana, Mauritania, Sao Tomeand Principe, Senegal and Suriname, are parties. The Kyoto Protocol has been extended by amendmentuntil 2020. It cannot be determined at this time what effect the Paris Agreement, and any relatedGHG emissions targets, regulations or other requirements, will have on our business, results ofoperations and financial condition. It also cannot be determined what impact the U.S.s announcedwithdrawal from the Paris Agreement will have on international climate change regulation. Thisregulatory uncertainty, however, could result in a disruption to our business or operations. The physicalimpacts of climate change in the areas in which our assets are located or in which we otherwiseoperate, including through increased severity and frequency of storms, floods and other weather events, could adversely impact our operations or disrupt transportation or other process-related servicesprovided by our third-party contractors.Health, safety and environmental laws are complex, change frequently and have tended to becomeincreasingly stringent over time. Our costs of complying with current and future climate change, health, safety and environmental laws, the actions or omissions of our block partners and third partycontractors and our liabilities arising from releases of, or exposure to, regulated substances mayadversely affect our results of operations and financial condition. Anti-development activists are working to, among other things, delay or cancel certain operations such as offshore drilling and development.Future activist efforts could result in the following:\x7f delay or denial of drilling permits;\x7f shortening of lease terms or reduction in lease size;\x7f restrictions or delays on our ability to obtain additional seismic data;\x7f restrictions on installation or operation of gathering or processing facilities;\x7f restrictions on the use of certain operating practices;\x7f legal challenges or lawsuits;\x7f damaging publicity about us;\x7f increased regulation;\x7f increased costs of doing business;\x7f reduction in demand for our products; and\x7f other adverse effects on our ability to develop our properties and/or undertake productionoperations.Activism worldwide may increase if the Trump administration in the U.S. is perceived to befollowing, or actually follows, through on President Trumps campaign commitments to promote59'
