In October 2025, Andy Inglis, Chairman and CEO of Kosmos Energy, joined H.E. Birame Souleye Diop, Minister of Energy, Oil and Mines of Senegal, and H.E. John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister of Energy and Green Transition of Ghana, and moderator NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber, for a fireside chat at African Energy Week in Cape Town.
The conversation explored how governments and companies can accelerate energy investment in West Africa through trust, transparency, and urgency. With global production expected to decline without new investment, the panel underscored the need for clear regulations, stable fiscal frameworks, and decisive action to attract capital and deliver affordable domestic energy.
Andy Inglis emphasized that “those who move fast, win big” – pointing to Kosmos projects such as Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) in Senegal and Mauritania and Jubilee and TEN in Ghana as examples of how strategic partnerships can empower local industry, expand access to energy, and drive long-term economic growth.
Ministers Diop and Jinapor outlined how Senegal and Ghana are creating conditions that encourage innovation and align public and private sector priorities. Both highlighted the importance of shared accountability and national alignment to translate opportunity into real progress. Inglis agreed, saying that true partnership depends on trust at both the institutional and personal level.
Together, the speakers called for a renewed sense of urgency, moving beyond words to action, to ensure that energy development supports both export revenue and domestic transformation.
