Blocks 42 and 45 are located in the Guyana - Suriname Basin, offshore Suriname.  The area is relatively underexplored with a variety of exploration plays, including Kosmos’ core Upper Cretaceous play.  The addition of the acreage is a significant expansion of the Company’s exploration portfolio and represents Kosmos’ first acreage acquisition outside of West Africa.

In a recently-proven area, neither of the blocks has previously been drilled.  Kosmos plans to acquire 3D seismic data during the initial exploration phase, with first drilling as early as 2014.
