The company achieves this objective by:
- Creating a first-class exploration portfolio by capturing acreage positions in emerging basins and established provinces overlooked by major oil and gas companies, who are generally risk averse.
- Maximizing the asset’s value following a discovery through accelerated, prudent appraisal, production, development and marketing, and
- Implementing fast-paced production and development programs, including the design and installation of complex subsea architecture and the utilization of floating production, storage and offloading vessels.
Kosmos forms partnerships with established industry players and host governments, as well as collaborates with local entrepreneurs. The company accesses a strategic interest in each project and prefers to manage the venture when possible. In the normal course of business, Kosmos will withdraw from licenses that the company believes no longer offer sufficient prospectivity. This is generally done after extensive evaluation of the underlying geology and geophysical data acquisition, an in-depth technical analysis and drilling.
