The tanker “Genmar Argus” lifted Kosmos’ first shipment of Jubilee crude on January 20, 2011. About one million barrels (132,957 metric tons) of oil were offloaded from the FPSO “Kwame Nkrumah.” The FPSO is 1,082 feet long and 213 feet wide.

Jubilee oil is a light, sweet crude produced from the Jubilee Field offshore the Republic of Ghana. Jubilee oil is produced into the turret-moored, weather-vaning floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) “Kwame Nkrumah” with bow loading from the stern. The FPSO, located within the Jubilee Unit boundaries, is capable of processing 120,000 barrels of oil per day (BOPD), 160 million standard cubic feet of gas per day and storing up to 1.6 million barrels of stabilized crude. It also has a water injection capacity of about 230,000 BOPD. The FPSO is capable of offloading up to 1 million barrels at a time to a range of crude oil vessels from Aframax to VLCC, first or second port. However, alternate cargo sizes as small as 600,000 barrels can be arranged with advanced planning. Production is being ramped up to reach full production of 120,000 BOPD. Kosmos has a 24.08% interest in the Jubilee Field and is Technical Operator for Development of the Jubilee Unit. The company and its partners are planning the next phase of Jubilee development, which is focused on maintaining plateau production from the field for 6-10 years.
