Kombe-N’sepe Block

Location: Coastal strip of Douala Basin bordering Gulf of Guinea south of the city of Douala (predominantly onshore); block extends more than 100 kilometers (60 miles) south of the city of Douala

Size: 3,026 km2 (748,000 acres)

Contract: association

Working interest: 35%

Operator: Perenco

Partners: Perenco, 40% working interest; Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures (SNH), 25% working interest

The Kombe-N’sepe Block is located at the northern end of the late Cretaceous turbidite play fairway that extends from northern Gabon through Equatorial Guinea into southern Cameroon. More than two billion barrels of oil have been discovered in the region. Operators have made several small oil and gas discoveries in and around the Kombe-N’sepe Block. Generally, explorers have not focused on this late Cretaceous play where Kosmos recognizes several promising leads in stratigraphic pinch-out and combination structural traps located in well-developed channel systems. Currently, Kosmos and its partners are prioritizing prospects identified by reprocessed seismic data and selecting the best ones to drill in 2009.

Ndian River Block

Location: Coastal strip of Rio del Rey Basin bordering Gulf of Guinea and abutting Cameroon/Nigeria border (predominantly onshore)

Size: 2,510 km2 (620,000 acres)

Contract: production sharing

Working interest: 100%

Operator: Kosmos Energy Cameroon

Partner: Société Nationale des Hydrocarbures will be carried through exploration and appraisal phases and has an option to back in to the project with an interest of up to 15% upon approval of a development plan

Previous oil and gas drilling offshore in the vicinity of the Ndian River Block has confirmed the presence of a working petroleum system, particularly in bordering portions of the Rio del Rey Basin, which has long-established production. Kosmos initially is focusing on the Ndian River Block’s underexplored northern extension of the late Cretaceous/lower Tertiary turbidite play, which has been successful in adjacent regions. In 2007, the company conducted a gravimetric and magnetic survey of the block. Currently, Kosmos is reprocessing existing seismic data and conducting field studies. The company plans to acquire additional seismic data in 2009.
